A WORD FROM
Gina and I are hopeful that you will join us for the 29th annual Pull for Kids Classic benefitting Child Advocates on May 1, 2021. Since 1984, Child Advocates has made a significant and positive impact on the lives of children who are victims of abuse and neglect. As an advocate, board chair, and board member for over 25 years, I witnessed firsthand the incredible work of this excellent organization – which depends on donors’ generosity like you to break the cycle of child abuse in Harris County.
Gina and I are grateful that we have the opportunity to chair this incredible event and honor our dear friends Terri and Terrence Gee, whom we have known for over 31 years. Terrence has served both as an advocate and a board member for a very long time and in various capacities. He and his wife Terri are longtime supporters of many events, including the Pull for Kids, and their positive impact on the community is well respected.
The Pull for Kids combines an action-packed sporting clays tournament and a casual, fun party with an incredible silent and live auction. This year’s party theme is ‘A Mardi Gras Masquerade,’ and we want you to be a part of this festive event. We need your help to combat the ever-present problem of child abuse in our community. Since its inception, the Pull for Kids has raised enough funds for Child Advocates to serve over 6,500 children. Along with Terri and Terrence,
Gina and I are committed to making the 2021 Pull for Kids Classic an excellent event. My experience with Child Advocates began shortly after I graduated from college. It provided an incredible opportunity for me to make a positive difference in this world and join with others who were doing the same thing. We are so thankful for the chance to be a part of it again and could not think of a better moment than to celebrate our friends Terri and Terrence and challenge you to help us break the cycle of child abuse by being a sponsor of this event. Please make your commitment today and join us for a fun evening. It is an event you will not want to miss!
Warm regards, Mike and Gina Van Hoozer

About the Pull for Kids
The Pull for Kids Classic, Child Advocates’ largest annual fundraiser, will kick off with a daytime sporting clays tournament for both individual and corporate teams at the American Shooting Centers. The “shoot” will include great food, games and fun giveaways. You and your team are sure to have a wonderful time while benefiting Child Advocates. Then, the following evening, join us for our signature party with dinner, dancing and hundreds of live and silent auction items in a unique and casual atmosphere that remains a Houston favorite.
In its 27-year history, the Pull for Kids Classic has raised over $10 million for Harris County’s most severely abused and neglected children. With your support, we will raise $700,000 this year, giving Child Advocates the opportunity to serve over 2,500 children in 2020.
About Child Advocates
Every 8 minutes, a child in Texas experiences abuse or neglect. Nearly 3,500 children in the Houston area have experienced such life-threatening abuse or neglect that they had to be removed from their homes and placed in foster care. Child Advocates trains everyday people to advocate for the best interests of these children in court so they can find safe, permanent homes as quickly as possible.
Since 1984, Child Advocates has recruited and trained over 5,800 advocates who have helped over 26,000 children.
By underwriting or attending this fundraising event, you will ensure that more foster children in Houston will receive the support of an advocate.
