A WORD FROM
our chairs

Scott and I are hopeful that you will join us at the 28th Pull for Kids Classic benefiting Child Advocates on October 24, 2020. Harris County has a serious child abuse problem. Since 1984, Child Advocates has been there to change the lives of children who are victims of abuse and neglect. Child Advocates depends on the generosity of its donors to break the cycle of child abuse in Harris County.

Having chaired the Pull for Kids twice in the past, we are happy to chair this awesome event again and honor our dear friends Lisa Folloder and George Kaleh. For over 16 years, George has spent countless hours dedicated to the mission of and generously supporting Child Advocates. Both George and Lisa are longtime supporters of this incredible organization and the Pull for Kids.

We need your help to help combat the ever-present problem of child abuse in our community. Scott and I, along with George and Lisa, are committed to making the 2020 Pull for Kids Classic the biggest and best one yet. I have been supporting this unique event almost since it began and have enjoyed watching it grow into Child Advocates’ largest fundraising event of the year. Child Advocates depends on the funds raised to help the thousands of abused and neglected children in Harris County.

The work performed by Child Advocates humbles us, and we are asking you to help us break the cycle of child abuse by being a sponsor of this event. Please make your commitment today and join us for a fun Saturday. It is an event you will not want to miss!

About the Pull for Kids

Normally, the Pull for Kids Classic, Child Advocates’ largest annual fundraiser, consists of a daytime sporting clays tournament and a casual and fun evening party with big board, live and silent auction items to boot. Due to Covid-19, this year’s Pull for Kids Classic will look a bit different, but there is tons of fun in store!

This year’s event will consist of just the Sporting Clays Tournament at American Shooting Centers. There will be multiple flight times throughout the day to follow social distance guidelines, as well as extra sanitary measures to ensure everyone's safety. This new and maximized ‘shoot’ will include food, drinks, and games for the participants, along with our Silent Auction and Whiskey and Wine Pulls. We will also be including guest passes so you do not have to participate in the tournament to enjoy the fun. It is sure to be a wonderful time, all while benefitting Child Advocates and ‘pulling’ for our kids.

In its 27-year history, the Pull for Kids Classic has raised over $10 million for Harris County’s most severely abused and neglected children. With your support, we will raise $700,000 this year, giving Child Advocates the opportunity to serve over 2,500 children in 2020.

About Child Advocates

Every 8 minutes, a child in Texas experiences abuse or neglect. Nearly 3,500 children in the Houston area have experienced such life-threatening abuse or neglect that they had to be removed from their homes and placed in foster care. Child Advocates trains everyday people to advocate for the best interests of these children in court so they can find safe, permanent homes as quickly as possible.
Since 1984, Child Advocates has recruited and trained over 5,800 advocates who have helped over 26,000 children.
By underwriting or attending this fundraising event, you will ensure that more foster children in Houston will receive the support of an advocate.
